The Trouble with Pet Stores
Where do those puppies and kittens come from? I asked at a local pet store, and they wouldn't tell me. According to the Human Society, we should be skeptical of any claims that they don't come from puppy mills. According to the American Kennel Club, you should buy a dog directly from the breeder, so you can inspect their premises and ask questions, instead of buying from a pet store. Most pet stores agree that selling puppies and kittens is not the right thing to do. The City of West Hollywood recently passed a law banning this practice. Sign the petition and ask the City of Burien to take the lead in animal welfare.
